COR1 has partnered with the Universal Speed Rating (USR) to provide the best training and coaching in Colorado Springs for athletes looking to improve their speed!

The Universal Speed Rating's actionable analytics gives coaches in-depth data in an easy to understand format to share with athletes and parents.

Having access to this data unlocks competitive benchmarks from other athletes around the nation and within the state, cultivating competition and motivation for COR1 athletes.

Individualized Athletic Profile

COR1 uses a 5 step process for assessing athletes. This process includes: a fly 10, a fly 5-10, a vertical jump, a broad jump, and a pro agility drill. The results from this assessment allow for individualized programming to ensure that athletes are focusing on the areas that are limiting their performance. Speed training and performance requires continual assessment to ensure that athletes are improving. Having a systematic approach ensures that our athletes are getting better every time they step on the field/court.

  • A fly 10 assessment is a measurement of maximum velocity (mph). In order to obtain this value, athletes with have a build up of 30 yards, with the final 10 yards being recorded (total of 40 yards sprinted).

  • Where the fly 10 measures maximum velocity, the fly 5-10 measures an athletes acceleration. This is obtained through a 5 yard build up, with the final 10 yards being timed (total of 15 yards ran).

  • There's a notable correlation between vertical jump ability and sprint speed. This connection stems from shared characteristics like explosive power, fast-twitch muscle fibers, and the ability to generate force quickly.

  • Broad jump performance, particularly horizontal distance, shows a significant correlation with sprint speed, especially during the acceleration and maximal speed phases. Studies indicate moderate to very large associations between broad jump distance and sprint performance, with stronger correlations observed in the maximal speed phase compared to acceleration

  • The pro agility or 5-10-5 drill is a test performed across most sports to measure an athletes ability to change direction.
